Director: Quentin TarantinoDjango Unchained
Cast: Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz
Running Time: 2 Hours 45 Minutes
Language:: English
Classification: 18
Synopsis: Set in the South two years before the Civil War, Jamie Foxx stars as Django, a slave who comes face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Hot on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles. Despite the success of the mission, the two men choose to travel together, for Django hopes to find and rescue Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago. Django and Schultz's search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of "Candyland," an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Django and Schultz's arrival arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson), Candie's trusted house slave. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival.
Trailer Impression: Quentin Tarantino's Oscar-winning spaghetti western finally reaches Malaysian screens, but even more surprisingly is that the distributor has claimed that there would be no cuts when it is shown here. Django Unchained won the Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor (Christoph Waltz) at the Oscars, two wins in categories that pretty much shapes up a Quentin Tarantino movie. With an all-star cast and sharp writing, this is sure to be brilliant all around. I'm really skeptical about the no censor claim, particularly for a movie like Django Unchained after reading the script, so we shall see.

Director: Jonathan LevineWarm Bodies
Cast: Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, John Malkovich
Running Time: 1 Hour 37 Minutes
Language:: English
Classification: P13
Synopsis: R (Hoult) is a zombie. After a zombie apocalypse, he slowly moves through an America made up of collapsed buildings, rusted cars, shattered glass, and hollowed-out high-rises, preferring to lounge around a rusted 747 Boeing jet, listening to Frank Sinatra instead. He can speak only in grunts and simple syllables and craves human brains to get high on the memories they contain. After eating the brain of a suicidal teen, R is overcome with love for the teen's companion, Julie Grigio (Palmer). He rescues Julie from death by his zombie pack and takes her back to his lair. When Julie is determined to leave, R is even more determined to follow her back to the Citi Stadium, the largest remaining human habitation to keep her safe along the way. But is it even possible for a zombie and a human girl to fall in love?
Trailer Impression: Another movie that I've been anticipating. This is an unusual genre mix but a refreshing one since the whole zombie fad started. A zom-com? A zom-rom? A zom-rom-com? I digged Jonathan Levine's previous work 50/50 which shows a great balance of comedy and drama, so I'm interested to see how well he balances this odd mix to life, and from this trailer, I think he did alright
FilmBah's Pick of the Week
It's a good week all around for me. If it wasn't for Django Unchained, I would have gone for Warm Bodies. Both of them had been on my To Watch list, so I might go back and watch Warm Bodies if nothing grabs my attention next week. What will you be watching?Releases according to CinemaOnline.
