I was born in the mid 1980s, and could remember seeing my first movie when I was 6 or 7 years old (but can't remember what was the movie). Like any child who watched his first movie, I took movies to be merely modes of entertainment. But while growing up with the years, there would be the occasional seminal movies that made me wondered about them intellectually rather than just enjoying the movie by the end of it.
My lense of just enjoying movies changed when I went to university and took my first classes in film language and was exposed to both old and new works. Since then I had always wanted to learn and know more about films, from its genre to its social and/or cultural places it has earned as an art form.
After tumbling through working life, one of the everburning passions that won't die in the cold realities of adulthood is my fascination towards film as an art that drew me like a moth to a flame. At times that fascination felt like a calling when I even worked as a assistant cinema manager for about a year.
Wanting to take my studies of film a little more seriously (and not just in my head), I started paying attention to the film world in 2011 when I started the first iteration of this blog. Since then it has been an ongoing struggle to keep the passion alive. Realizing that there is a vast world of film to be explored, from the golden classics to the modern mainstream, the arts and techniques of bringing stories to life on a screen, and the cultural and commercial landscape of cinema of every country. I am a student of film and will always be in this never-ending classroom of art imitating life.
This blog is not written by a movie reviewer who thinks he knows all there is to movies; this is a journal of a filmic journey of a movie lover who learns more about film each day as though he had never seen a film.

Features of this blog:
- FilmBah Watches: [Film Title] - Entries of this feature are not meant to be a review by any stretch and the titles would probably have been out of the theaters by the time if I do write about them. I plan to watch films that suits my mood at the time, or when I'm planning to study a particular series, genre, or director to put my thoughts and understanding of them on paper/post. For the most part, I believe that most of them would be just ramblings or crude dissections about the cinematography, writing or editing of the movies, or just to point out the things that captures me from one scene to another. While I have never claimed myself to be a film buff or critic, I would try my best to bring myself down from the high horse to write down my genuine feelings that I have for the film I'm watching. The purpose of this is to further understand and educate, rather than to entertain.
- Picks of the Week - A weekly update on movies that would be releasing in cinemas around Malaysia that have picked up my interest. As a rule of thumb, this feature would be posted on a Wednesday or Thursday, with the trailers of the movies that I thought were interesting or planning to see. Each trailer would be discussed with a Trailer Impressions where I give some of my own insights or knowledge about what I am anticipating or expecting from the movie.
