Coming to Cinemas (31/1/2013)

What a terrible release week it is. There's really nothing left to do for moviegoers but to put a bullet to the head.

Here are the trailers for the movies released this week.

Bullet to the Head

Director: Walter Hill
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Sung Kang, Jason Momoa, Sarah Shahi
Running Time: 1 Hour 31 Minutes
Language:: English
Classification: 18
Synopsis: Stallone is back in his usual action role, and this time he plays a hitman who teams up with a young NYPD detective in a high-stakes investigation that leads from the dingy back alleys of New Orleans all the way to the power corridors of New Orleans. The unlikely duo are brought together by two vicious murders that involve them in one way or another, and must take on all who stand in their way, as well as sacrifice everything to exact revenge.

Trailer Impression: Arnold had it lucky to have director Kim Ji-Woon in the helm for his comeback in The Last Stand, although it may not have earned the ravest of reviews for the Korean's Hollywood debut. However, that's not the case for Sylvester Stallone's solo comeback with Walter Hill, who seems to have a more impressive resume as a producer than a director. So I guess that pretty much speaks about where the weight of this action movie would be in here. Stallone's headstart of a comeback since The Expandables seems to be directing himself towards a certain typecast of an action hero that is getting hard to like again, without some new twist. This one looks like a good ol'fashioned actioner, and a chance for Jason Momoa to redeem himself for the Conan reboot.

Wawa Semput

Director: Ismail Bob Hasim
Cast: Yana Samsudin, Angah Raja Lawak, Along Raja Lawak
Running Time: 1 Hour 20 Minutes
Language:: Malay
Classification: P13
Synopsis: Bobby and Wawa's love conflict in "Adnan Sempit" has not yet seen its end. Their story continues in this comedy-action film that has Bobby and Wawa facing the biggest challenge in the relationship when Bobby accuses Wawa of being unfaithful to him with Ismat. Wawa, who is also fed up with Bobby's hooligan act, decides to break up with him and return to her hometown. Even when Bobby comes to his senses and begs her to come back, Wawa is unmovable, and allows Ismat to whisk her back. Bobby, not to be outdone, also travels to her village, which results in various competitions of sorts between the two in order to win Wawa's heart. Meanwhile, the love triangle faces its share of obstacles in the form of Pak Kudin, Wawa's father and Ayuni, Wawa's best friend who falls for Ismat. What will happen to this tangled mess of a relationship?

FilmBah's Pick of the Week

Like I said it's a very dismal release week, but I'm willing to give Bullet to the Head a shot to see if there's anything good that I could come out of it. But expectations are going to be set really low, so I might be easily impressed by anything at this point.

 Releases according to CinemaOnline.
